It's Time to Fly!

We hope you're enjoying this October with lots of time outside before winter hits and have managed to find some time for your favorite fall activities, albeit with a pandemic twist this year. I've found plenty of time at home to pull out ALL of my Halloween decorations. This is one of my favorite dolls that Mom made for me years ago. It was inspired by the Australian artist, Ida Rentoul Outhwaite (1888-1960) who is most famous for her illustrations of fairies and elves. Outhwaite's first illustration was published in 1904 when she was just 15 years old. See her work depicted in four stained glass windows at St Mark's Anglican Church in Fitzroy, Victoria. What a wonderful tribute to this female artist. If you look closely at the picture, you'll see Mom was able to find black and white fabric with a grid design, green lace, and a wispy sheer fabric to convey the portrait of this lovely witch in a windswept moment...certainly a good witch, from the looks of it. She brightens my spirits every October! Wishing you all clear skies this Halloween!
